The chapel stands at an altitude of 450 metres at the foot of Mont Saint-Romain. It overlooks the Haut-Mâconnais vineyards and the Saône valley. It was built on 1 May 1941, Labour Day, in the space of just twenty-four hours, which makes it unique and a record. No fewer than six hundred young people and group leaders from the Chantiers de la jeunesse française de Saône-et-Loire took turns every three hours to build the edifice. The chapel is largely open to the outside world, mainly on the west side (through a vast semi-circular archway). Both sides are illuminated by large, slightly lowered arched windows and two murals line the interior. Large esplanade in front of the chapel.
