Prior to 1842, the hamlet of Blavepeyre (from the Occitan ?blau? and ?peyre? meaning ?bleu? and ?pierre?) was a commune in its own right. It was later merged with Bussière-Nouvelle. Blavepeyre was a dependency of the Commanderie Sainte-Anne d?Eymoutiers, part of the Order of Malta. The church was attached to this Commandery. The rectangular nave is topped by a bell tower. Inside, two frescoes depict the four Evangelists. The floor is paved with funerary slabs decorated with swords, crosses and ciboriums. The church has been restored and is dedicated to Saint John.
