AzureThe Vosges department is part of Lorraine and is surrounded by the departments of Meuse and Meurthe-et-Moselle to the north; Bas-Rhin and Haut-Rhin to the east, Territoire de Belfort and Haute-Saône to the south and Haute-Marne to the west.
The Vosges has the particularity of being located in the watershed of three rivers: that of the Rhine via the Moselle and its tributaries, including the Vologne and the Meurthe, that of the Rhône via the Saône and that of the Meuse in the extreme southwest, where it absorbs the Vair.
Vosges has two different landscapes. To the west of Épinal it consists of hills covered with deciduous forests. The eastern part of the Vosges is higher and consists of granite mountains and sandstone covered with coniferous forests. The highest altitude areas are part of the Ballons des Vosges Regional Natural Park.
