The Monasteraki of Chrisopigi has the most important church of the island called "Panagia Chrisopigi" or "the Virgin Mary of Chrysopigi. The church was built in 1650. It was built upon the foundations of an ancient temple. It is one of the 224 churches that operate today. On the west side of the cove you can see the remains of the loading dock used to transport the mined metals by boat to Lavrio.
