The hiking trail starts in a northeastern direction from the village of Exo Mouliana, located between Agios Nikolaos and Sitia. The path follows the course of the Lachana stream to the north, towards the rocky beach of Richtis. The descent at the beginning and at various spots can be challenging, but the lush vegetation, the babbling water, the old watermills, and the beautiful waterfall of Richtis more than make up for it. It's advisable to wear sturdy shoes and bring enough water, despite the good signage. The return route follows the same path. The trail is passable year-round, but from April to October, the path is better navigable. Alternatively, the route can also be walked as a loop by using the parallel road.
