The Via delle Genti from Verbania Intra to the Swiss border represented the ancient road connecting the towns of Verbano and Switzerland. The Way then continued in Switzerland along the towns of Lake Maggiore to Locarno and then into the Magadino plain where it connected to the road that went up to the San Gottardo Pass. The stretch from Verbania to the state border is completed in two pleasant stages that can be done year-round, except in the event of snowfall. It is a route that runs at mid-height with a splendid view of Lake Maggiore, allowing for travel through small villages and the Sacro Monte di Ghiffa Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage site, ultimately reaching the wonderful lakeside towns of Cannero and Cannobio.
