Maria Toevlucht Abbey, is a Trappist abbey that is located between Zundert and Schijf passing the nature reserve of Moeren.La abbey has its origin in the French secularization that took place in the late nineteenth century. This policy threatened with expulsion the particular contemplative life of the monasteries. This also affected the monks of the Katsberg Abbey in Godewaarsvelde and as a result they formed in 1881 Koningshoeven Abbey in Tilburg.
