Don Laem Gate and its Fortress was the southeast entrance at the outer wall of the historic Si Satchanalai town. Construction of the modern road going into the center of this town has damaged so much the entrance that its original characteristics cannot be clearly seen. Nearby this entrance there was a Pentagon fortress built from blocks of laterite. Certain parts of the fortress were constructed on top of the earthen town wall and a small part of it extended a little beyond the interior limit of the wall.
