Machame Gate is one of the gateways to Mount Kilimanjaro National Park.
It is also the location of several park authority offices (TANAPA - Tanzania National Park Authorities) and an administrative starting point for all trekkers using the Machame trekking route to the summit.
You must register to enter the park and pay the entrance fee.
The area receives a lot of rain throughout the year. There are a few hotels nearby where you can stay for the climb.
