Memorial site of drowned child - Malpaís de Güímar - Tenerife

A boy aged about 14 years old was rescued from the sea at this location in February 2008 , but when medical services arrived on the scene they found that he had died, possibly drowned.

The event occurred shortly after 2 p.m., when reports were received that a swimmer had pulled an unconscious person from the sea. The victim was in cardiac arrest and resuscitation maneuvers were unsuccessful.

At the memorial site there are objects that have washed up from the sea , as well as a statue of the Virgin Mary and flowers, placed around some stacked lava stones.
