The Agricultural State Vocational School Rotholz in Rotholz Castle is located in the municipality of Strass im Zillertal, in the Lower Inn Valley near Jenbach.
Originally, above the valley floor was the Rottenburg, but the name Rotholz is already documented in 1180. At that time, it was owned by the lords of Rottenburg, ministerials of the Counts of Andechs. It is documented as a castle in 1263 as Castrum Rotenbruchì. Later, the name Thurnegg also appears, as a defensive tower, which was also initially the name of the castle.
