Those who view the Wonderwoud from the air will immediately see that the area has the shape of an X. This is closely related to the history of that place: in the 1960s, there were plans to construct the 'airport of Lochristi' there. Ultimately, that never materialized, but the land for the runways had already been cleared. In the years that followed, the area was excavated in many places and refilled for sand extraction, but from now on, nature will once again have all the space it needs.
