Spectacular descents in the pays des sources around Spa-Francorchamps - Stavelot (833 hm)

With a height difference between 240 and 570 meters we want to do some spectacular descents here. For the climbs we choose slowly rising asphalt, including via the Ravel, the descents are off- road and sometimes technical.

Start at the church of La Gleize where the December 44 museum is also located (well worth a visit!).

At the brasserie Vert de Pommier we are presented with a nice fast off-road descent that takes us to the beautiful valley of the Roannay (asphalt). We follow this river slightly upstream, surrounded by steep slopes to Moulin du Ry.

It now climbs via Exbomont to dessus Heilrimont. Initially asphalt, then off-road.

Once at the top, we do not choose the easy road straight ahead to Stavelot, but we turn right past a hunter's hut. A little further follows a technical steep descent off-road where you have to pay attention! We arrive at an asphalt road at the rocher du diable and an elegant chapel.

Because it is so fun and unique to do, we follow the GR . (red and white stripes). We have to get off to pass the stream under the Ravel via a pedestrian tunnel.

We now arrive at the Ravel , which disappears a little further through a tunnel under the Haute Levée. Slowly rising we pass the circuit of Francorchamps and drive on to Hockai, together with the col du Rosier the highest point of this tour (570m).

We leave the Rave l but the terrain remains asphalt. We pass the airport of Spa , ideal for a stopover in De Sunset and watch the paratroopers who fall from the sky like flies in tandem.

We stay on the high plateau until the Domaine de Berinzenne , known for its peat bogs. We go crazy again and drive into the peat on the boardwalk along the Tour de Guet.

We are now almost at the col du Rosier. We now only have a spectacular descent of 9 kilometers from the Vecquee to the starting point. First gradually descending along Andrimont and a bit of Col du Rosier around the valley of the Rau de Cour to the hamlet of the same name and further around the old Sanatorium Borgoumont.

From here a steeper but pleasant descent begins along Borgoumont and Hassoumont to La Gleize.

A Glezia beer is now well deserved...
