The Unnoticed Beauty of the Herk

This day tour uses the GR 564 - The Loonse Route.

On this hilly day tour, you will encounter numerous orchards, sunken paths, and some beautiful nature reserves.
The source area of the Herk is quite unknown and overlooked by non-Limburgian hikers, quite unjustly. The Herk, which flows from Rukkelingen into the Demer, has created some beautiful meadows in its upper reaches. The variety of plants is overwhelming. Water mint, angelica, and orchids are interesting study objects for nature lovers. The beauty of the upper reaches of the Herk and its valley cannot be described; one must experience it. In combination with the local culture and excellent farm tourism, this is definitely a full-fledged holiday destination.
