A new report about the Uitkerkse Polder has been published in the magazine of Natuurpunt (Issue Dec 2024, Winter Edition).

The open nature reserve is a paradise for endangered meadow breeders and in winter a magnet for snow geese, with up to 16,000 individuals in December and January as well as other waterfowl. Let the fresh sea air flow through your hair, as the wind has free rein here while we walk through the wide, treeless nature. A windproof jacket is definitely recommended here. The starting point is the Uitkerkse Polder visitor center, a lovely place to visit after the walk.

Along the way, there are several observation huts and in the middle, a nice picnic area. Parking is available at the visitor center, with slightly more space for motorhomes at the back of the parking lot. Surrounding the visitor center is the blue hiking trail, which can be walked twice. First, at the top of the hill with a wide view, and then the Fuchsweg, which winds down below among the little trees. We had almost 10 km on the clock. There are only a few unpaved paths, totaling about 1 km.
