Namur, is the pearl at the confluence of the Sambre and Meuse rivers and is crowned with a mighty citadel high on a hill.
From Tienen to Namur, it is very easy to cycle along the Ravel L42, an old flattened railway line.
The return trip follows the exact same easy route in reverse.
Only the 7 km long very gradual climb from the Meuse valley on the way back may pose a problem.
For the rest, it is very easy cycling, even for the less experienced cyclist.
After a few tunnels under the railway and further along the left bank of the Sambre, one reaches the completely car-free center of the capital of Wallonia.
At the “Place Marché Aux Légumes,” there are quite a few nice restaurants with beautiful quiet terraces under the trees of this picturesque square in the shade of the "Église Saint-Jean-Baptiste"
