Lippeaue Nature Reserve

The Lippeaue nature reserve is a nature reserve in the district of Soest, which was designated in 2004. The NSG areas have been part of various FFH areas since 2004.
The NSG lies on the Lippe between Lippstadt in the east and the district border with Schmehausen in the west. It stretches over a length of 25 km and has an area of about 1200 ha. It lies in the larger central part, where both banks of the Lippe belong to the district of Soest, on both sides of the river. In the eastern part, between the villages of Lippstadt and Eickelborn, where the north bank belongs to the district of Warendorf, the nature reserve "Lippeaue between Göttingen and Cappel", which was designated in 1987, borders on the north side of the Lippe. In the western part, near Schmehausen, Uentrop and Haaren, where the south bank belongs to the district-free city of Hamm, the nature reserves "Schmehauser Mersch", "Munnebach" and "Haarener Lippeaue", which were designated in 1995, border on the south side of the Lippe.
