The hamlet lies at an altitude of 130 m above sea level on the slopes of the Bergisches Land and the Nutscheid. Neighboring villages are Oberauel in the southwest and Niederhalberg in the north.
Until 1 August 1969, the village of Berg belonged to the municipality of Lauthausen, and as part of the municipal restructuring of the Bonn area, Lauthausen, including the village of Berg, was assigned to the then new independent municipality of Hennef.
