The Städtisches Museum Eisenhüttenstadt was founded in 1980 and today includes three sites that present the history of Eisenhüttenstadt, an art gallery with works from the GDR and a museum of fire brigade and technology.
The opening of the Städtisches Museum Eisenhüttenstadt took place on December 6, 1980. The museum was located in an Art Nouveau building with navigation motifs at Löwenstraße 4 in the Fürstenberg district. The two-story plaster building was built in 1906 as a residential building on behalf of the director of the steamship cooperative, Carl Reiche, and was rebuilt in 1977. It is a listed building.
