The cycle path of ferries and ferries, imposing suspension ferries from the imperial era with modern bridge and tunnel constructions, connects about 250 km. In the holiday region of Altes Land on the Elbe River, the cycle path initially follows the Oste, which winds between dikes towards its mouth in Balje. Two historic ferry boats at Brobergen and Gräpel, one of them even hand-operated, and one of the world's eight remaining suspension ferries can be admired on this tranquil river and used for crossing. Upstream from the mouth of the Oste - mostly with a tailwind - it goes to Wischhafen. If you still want to go further, take the ferry to Glückstadt and continue your tour along the bustling North Sea-Baltic Sea Canal to Kiel.
