Three city e-bike tour

Before you start pedaling, you should first take a stroll through the old Hanseatic city of Brakel. The historic city center is characterized by many old half-timbered houses that give the streets, alleys, and squares a special atmosphere. The lively center of the city is the marketplace with the town hall from the 13th century. The house, adorned with a stepped gable, is framed by a former farmer's house from the 16th century and the Old Weighing House, a former knight's seat.

After just a few kilometers on the bike, you will reach a green area with a bench and pull-out bay on B 252. There stands a modern statue of the Virgin Mary in the middle of the Heberbach: the "Mother of God in the Water". (If you cross the federal highway, please be extra careful here: the view into the inside curve is limited!)
Unknown drivers ensure that an eternal light always burns in a lantern, in memory of the traffic accident victims.
In Holzhausen, you will pass by the estate of the von der Borch family. The estate in its current form dates back to the 16th century and is completely preserved, a rarity in East Westphalia. It is listed as an ensemble under monument protection. For over fifty years, Gut Holzhausen has been operating according to the principles of biodynamic agriculture. In addition, the estate has gained a reputation through cultural events, including the annual "Voices" vocal festival and the art trail.
In Nieheim, the Westfalen Culinarium awaits you with a whole culinary world featuring Westphalian bread, cheese, ham, beer, and schnapps museums. In addition, the Menne dairy shows how various dairy products such as cooking cheese, butter, and whey are produced. You can watch the production through a glass front from the farm shop. The Sack Museum is also worth a visit.
From here, the path leads you to Marienmünster. The venerable Benedictine abbey is one of the few almost completely preserved monastery complexes in Westphalia. Experiencing a concert on the organ built by Johann Patroklus Möller is a very special pleasure. Refreshments are also provided: you will find ample sustenance at the Klosterkrug.
Next stop is the cultural model village of Bökendorf, where plays for adults as well as fairy tales and other children's plays have been performed on the open-air stage for over 50 years.
Here, do not enter the village of Bökendorf, but turn right onto "Bökerhof" street before. There you will pass by the Bökerhof Castle (only visible from the outside) and its associated arcade. In the 19th century, Bökerhof was the center of the "Romantic Circle" with Annette von Droste-Hülshoff, the Brothers Grimm, Clemens von Brentano, and Josef von Görres.
Continue past the castle onto "Drostestrasse," turn right here and then turn right again onto "Kirchweg." Follow this road until you reach the officially recognized recreational area and tourism model village of Bellersen - the village B. from the novella "The Jew's Beech" by Annette von Droste-Hülshoff. Two show distilleries for fine fruit brandies and one of the largest beekeeping operations in Germany can also be visited here (for groups of 6 or more by appointment).
