Eifelsteig - Stage 4 from Einruhr to Gemünd

Interesting history, picturesque nature, and charming villages - even on the fourth stage, you will lack for nothing. The route is rounded off by a fascinating view of the Eifel lakes.

Right at the beginning of the hike in Einruhr, the gaze wanders over a gentle slope on a forest road towards Obersee, and shortly thereafter, you enter the Eifel National Park. Where the Urft and Roer meet, you will walk along wild paths by the idyllic shores to the dam of the Urftsee. Crossing the dam is worthwhile not just for the view, but also for a snack in the small restaurant there. After that, it goes uphill to the Dreiborner Plateau, which now presents itself as an open landscape after its former use as a military training ground, where in summer the gorse blooms a golden yellow.

In the middle of the area, the deserted village of Wollseifen with the former St. Rochus Church tells of the sad yet interesting history of the place. With a dreamy view of the Urftsee, the hike continues to the former knight's castle Vogelsang, where you can linger a little longer.

Through the viewpoints Kickley and Modenhüber, you will leave the national park again and continue hiking in the Urft Valley to reach the center of the beautiful Gemünd and finish the varied stage.
