Guadalest is located about half an hour to three-quarters of an hour's drive from beach resorts on the Costa Blanca such as Calpe, Moraira, Altea, and Benidorm. The nearly thousand-year-old village is entirely situated around the castle. The castle, simply called El Castell de Guadalest, is built on top of a rock. Noteworthy besides the castle are the atmospheric market square, the town hall, the baroque-style church, two museums, and the beautiful view of the reservoir.
