That wars are dirty prooves the event on December 3 1944. The Germans had retreated from Greece a few months before. A crowd of unarmed civilians demonstrating in support of the partisans in Syntagma Square. The communist partisans played an important role in teh liberation of Greece from the nazi's, but they weren't given by Churchill any role of significance in the post war period. And that was becoming more and more obvious. In one of the most controversial episodes of the second world war, British army alongside Nazi collaborators opened fire on the demonstrators on Syntagma. The 3 December killings, which kicked off a wave of violence that is known in Greece as the Dekemvriana.
