the Half Sole Line

This 47-kilometer long bicycle route has the theme of the Halve Zolenlijn.

The Langstraat railway line, colloquially known as the Halve Zolenlijn, was a railway line from Lage Zwaluwe via Waalwijk to 's-Hertogenbosch.
The nickname Halve Zolenlijn refers to the shoe industry.

The railway line was opened between 1886 and 1890. This railway connection mainly transported leather and related items to and from the Langstraat. Lage Zwaluwe served as a transshipment point for shipping to Rotterdam.
On the dam between Raamsdonksveer and 's-Hertogenbosch, there is now a cycle path called the Halve Zolenpad.
The old track leads through the nature reserve Moerputten between Vlijmen and 's-Hertogenbosch.
The 600-meter long Moerputten bridge was opened as a footpath in October 2006 after extensive restoration.

This bicycle route follows the original railway line as closely as possible, and along the bicycle route, there are train stations, railway bridges, various benches, and information signs.

The route starts at the back of the NS station in 's-Hertogenbosch and ends at the NS station in Breda.

Given the length of the tour and the interesting theme, it is advisable to plan two days for the Halve Zolenlijn. One day can be used for a walk over the Moerputten bridge and the other day for the cycling tour.

In Oosterhout, the route runs through two short shopping streets, which are pedestrian areas during opening hours.

This interesting route runs through an open landscape and is somewhat exposed to the wind. An alternative route through forests can be found here.
