The Pannenhoef
Between Rijsbergen, Zundert and Sprundel lies a unique and
Valuable nature reserve of more than 700 hectares. As an estate
the Pannenhoef was founded in 1840. After several owners
Brabants Landschap has it more than a century later in 1970
Purchased. The area formerly made up of fertilized farmland, young uniform coniferous forest and densely disclosed fens
after 40 years of nature development, forms a unique and
Biodiverse nature reserve with forest, fens, avenues, streams and
flowery grasslands. During a walk you can see all the
Encounter species of woodpeckers: the green, black and three
motley. There is a good chance that you will hear the hawk and the most lucky ones will meet special inhabitants such as clapper magpie,
Nightjar and since a few years even the pine marten.

This is a circular walk through the beautiful nature reserve Pannenhoef in West Brabant.
It is the region where long ago the Turfschip of Breda got its usual cargo.

Peat extraction created the swamps and wet heath.
Nature conservation has been working for a number of years to restore streams, canals and fens.
In combination with the forests of the estate and the grazing of the open areas, this resulted in an unprecedentedly beautiful piece of nature with beautiful views and a rich flora and fauna.
