With this cycle route you will discover a large part of the former Eastern Mining Region and a world will open up for you. Because the traces of the mining past are well hidden! Discover known and unknown places by bike, all of which have a link to the massive coal industry that once defined the landscape and life in this region.
A route of approx. 57 km, through the municipalities of Simpelveld, Kerkrade, Landgraaf and Heerlen, connected by the Bicycle Junctions. The route can also be divided into 4 or more smaller loops.
To get past the 39 mine sights along the way, buy the accompanying cycling guide 'In the trail of the mines' because you occasionally have to deviate from the route. Those directions, and more information about the sights can be found in this booklet.
