Mjølkevegen via Slettefjell

Mjølkevegen, Norwegian for Milky Way, has nothing to do with the Milky Way galaxy, but everything to do with the many dairy farms in the area.

The route is named after the dairy farms where the many free-ranging cows are milked in the mid-mountain region. The cows roam freely here, and you will encounter them regularly.

The road winds through rolling hills and vast grasslands, so it is no wonder that it is one of the most popular routes in Norway.

A scenic tour from Vinstra, through the Valdres valley to Gol. With fantastic views and many different types of nature. The highest point is at 1300 meters, so it promises to be a beautiful experience.

The 228 km route starts in Vinstra and then goes a short distance over Peer Gyntvegen, after which we drive along the scenic road in Jotunheimen with the giant mountains in the background.

I have added a section of Slettefjell to this route, and this is a beautiful mountain in this area of Jotunheimen and the Valdres Valley. Of course, we drive on Slettefjellvegen, and the view is magnificent.

The route continues on unpaved roads, and also in this route we have again over 70% unpaved, to Tisleifjorden, to then arrive in Gol via beautiful unpaved roads. It is a very varied route with many variations in nature, from grasslands, lakes, forests, high mountains to vast plains. The route covers a height difference of over 1200 meters, so there will be plenty of climbing and descending.

The start and end is at a coffee shop (in the shopping center), and in Gol there are options for dining, see attractions.
