Tourism Zemst opened no less than 14 walking loops along slow roads. One of them is the Vinkebrugpad, where you can walk 60% of this route 'pleasantly slowly'.

The name 'Vinkebrug' refers to the bridge over the Barebeek, which was officially inaugurated in July 2015. At the same time, work was also done on the reconstruction of the neighborhood path along both sides of the bridge for walkers and cyclists. It is a historic local path that originally ran through the (later dug) large pits of Hofstade, up to where the Kampenhoutsebaan meets the Trianondreef. The piece at the Vinkebrug is the only remaining part of the original path. Further along, you also walk a bit along the Leuvense Vaart. Finally, you arrive at the Arendvoetweg and continue walking along the old Zenne back to the starting point.

The route

Start at the parking lot of the old swimming pool, at the X-point Tervuursesteenweg/Zandstraat. Go left on the Tervuursesteenweg with your back to the sports hall. Walk under the railway and then turn right over the parking lot of the station, then follow the path straight on to Eikstraat (first street left, no street name sign on the corner). Go left and follow this street to the end. Then turn right into Eikvoetweg. At the end, turn right and follow Ambroossteenweg past house number 121A. Here, go left and then continue straight to Vinkebrug. Follow the path straight over the bridge. You will enter the (paved) Korte Bakkestraat; take a right at the fork and keep going straight (unpaved) until you reach Vaartdijk. Here, go left. You are now walking along the Leuvense Vaart for a while. Past house number 63, take a left into Muizenstraat (small cobblestone path). Then go left in Muizenstraat. A little further, turn right into Heuvelstraat and then take a right into Witveldstraat, then the first street left (remains Witveldstraat) and follow Werfheidevoetweg straight. At the end, follow the bend to the left and then continue straight on Werfheide (unpaved). At the Y-fork, go right, following Werfheide. You will arrive at B&B De Werfhoeve (1) and turn left into Muizenstraat. Past house number 98, turn right (also Muizenstraat). At the intersection, then turn right, taking Balkvoetweg. At WZC Ambroos, turn left and then follow right. You will enter Balkweg. At the end, go left towards the traffic lights on Tervuursesteenweg. Cross over and go left on Tervuursesteenweg. Then turn right into Gasthuishofweg, following the bend to the left. You will come to the recently renovated Gasthofhoeve (brasserie) (2). At the fork, go right (between no. 18 and Gasthofhoeve), continue straight on Gasthuishofweg (keep the parking and soccer field on the left). At the end, go left of the building and follow the narrow path along the edge of the forest on the left side. Then turn left at the post with the hexagonal sign (between Zenne and Barebeek). At the second post, turn right. Follow this path until you reach a third post, turn left here. You will come to Zemstsesteenweg and go right. Walk past house number 171, go left and immediately right into Brugvoetweg. You will come to the railway and E19 and walk left onto Arendvoetweg. Follow a bit along the old Zenne and turn left into Diepeweg before the railway. Stay on the same side of the railway at the next fork and walk straight to Bordekensstraat. You will reach Tervuursesteenweg, walk right under the railway and return to Zandstraat, your starting point.
