The abbey of Vlierbeek in Leuven

The walk departs and also returns to the train station of Leuven, located east of the city.
Drivers can pay to park in the underground parking garage under the station.
One can also easily reach the station of Leuven by De Lijn.

It is a flat walk with little elevation difference.
The lowest point is the Provincial domain of Kessel-Lo with several beautiful water pools (see the elevation graph).

At the start, walk immediately under the railway lines to the rear of the station complex.
And then you are already in the district of Kessel-Lo.

After crossing the busy N2 (Leuven-Hasselt), you arrive at the Park Heuvelhof and a little further at the Abbey of Vlierbeek, beautifully situated in the greenery.
Halfway through the walk, you can take a break in the brown café In den Rozenkrans, in the shade of the abbey tower.

Then you continue walking further through the greenery to the Provincial domain of Kessel-Lo, the green lung of Leuven.
Walking along several bodies of water, you return to the station of Leuven, where there are plenty of restaurants and cafés in the immediate vicinity.
