Short Lissewege sculpture route

The white village of Lissewege, which is one of the ten most beautiful villages in Flanders, is known for its sculpture route in summer.

The sculpture route normally goes from the village of Lissewege to the Abbey of Ter Doest, about 2 kilometers away.

We deliberately do not make this extra walk here! So this is not the complete sculpture route!

Departure from the car park or the nearby Lissewege station on Pol Dhontstraat.

First we walk to the Lisseweegse Vaartje to admire all the blooming flowers and the exhibited images. The creative garden 't Vaartje is a must for the art amateur among us. Especially on Sunday afternoons there is a lot of activity from all kinds of artists.

A little further we come to an open sculpture garden.

Past old white houses you pass the Spaniënhof, the visitor center and the old candy store until you reach the church. The church of Lissewege, with its special organ, is worth a visit. It is possible to climb the tower (for a fee) for a beautiful panoramic view.

There are also many statues around the church.

Perhaps the inner man needs to be strengthened in one of the numerous catering establishments here...

We continue behind the church to the garden of the old rectory, where you can also see many statues. You may be interested in the Museum of the Saints (for a fee).

We end the walk by returning via a path along the Lisseweegs canal...
