Sahara - blue - 3.8 km

The blue route takes you to the most beautiful spots in the Sahara, the perfect walk for children. Follow the brown crosses (630 m) from De Soeverein to reach the start of the blue route in the Sahara.
This walk offers plenty of variety for young and old alike. Walking in the Sahara feels like an adventure in the desert. It's no wonder this route was voted the most beautiful walk in the country in 2018!
The large, bright blue water body appears like a mirage in the sand plain and attracts countless waterfowl. The surrounding coniferous forests and some architectural highlights make this walk extra special. Be sure to climb the unique lookout tower for a stunning view over National Park Bosland.
For children, there is a mysterious play forest with natural play elements made from willow branches, created by artist Will Beckers.
**Our tips:**
Bring a picnic and have lunch at the playful picnic tables. Zeno the Sand Beetle will take the children on a discovery journey in the sand!
Between March 15 and October 15, you can borrow a free hammock at the reception of the event hall De Soeverein: hang it on a tree and just relax! Experience a day full of adventure and discover the magic of the Sahara!
