Lorraine Gaumaise: Border cycling from Herbeumont (B) to Marville (F)

This 76 km long distance cycling route consists of parts of various long-distance circuits from the "Patrimoine & Paysage de la Lorraine Gaumaise" network. These routes are marked with a green triangle and the logo of Lorraine Gaumaise (see here).
The route takes you through the most beautiful landscapes of Gaume and French Lorraine and along the highlights of this border region:
- the ruins of the Herbeumont castle
- the castle grounds of Les Epioux
- the Interpretation Center of the Landscape of Lorraine Gaumaise in Florenville
- the Abbey of Orval
- the 'Field Basilica' of Avioth
- the Citadel of Montmédy
- Torgny, one of the most beautiful villages in Wallonia
- the Renaissance town of Marville

ROUTE

Here and there I have added small connecting sections between the marked routes. These are therefore not signposted.
The route from Herbeumont through the forest to Les Epioux and Chiny does not belong to the cycling network of Lorraine Gaumaise and is therefore also not signposted. It mostly runs over unpaved but drivable forest paths. Any comments regarding this route are welcome to the author at wanderlust@outlook.be.

- Herbeumont is accessible by bus from Bertrix station. Info: www.infotec.be.
- There are 2 train stations along the route: Florenville and Montmédy.
