GR 15 Ardennes Trails

The GR15 connects Belgian Lorraine with the Eifel in Germany. You start at the source of the Semois in Aarlen and finish after 229 km at the romantic market square of Monschau.

The first stages of the GR15 flirt with the green border between Belgium and Luxembourg. Along rolling fields and sleepy villages, you discover small and large events from history: the slate quarries in Martelange, the vanished village of Romeldange, Queen Mathilde's youth church in Villers-la-Bonne-Eau, and the numerous memories of the Ardennes offensive near Bastogne. If you are a beer lover, you will certainly stop at the breweries of Achouffe or Oster. Dense forests and open fields alternate in this quiet Luxembourg region. Other than the castle of Harzé, you encounter few imposing buildings. Nature indeed plays the lead role on the GR15. Aywaille greets you with a cozy tourist buzz. The Emblève guides you through Remouchamps to the popular valley of the Ninglinspo. After a lively visit to the city of Spa, you walk through stately forests to the Gileppe reservoir. Behind the back of the gigantic lion, you find the path to Eupen, the capital of German-speaking Belgium. After a final climb, the GR15 crosses a piece of High Fens to the German border. Hidden in the valley, the historic Monschau with its splendid half-timbered houses awaits you. Time for a delicious piece of Vennbrocken to conclude the GR15!
