Overijse Promenade around the IJsebroeken (RCOZ)

Theme: Walk along the two slopes of the IJsevallei and the IJsebroeken. Duration: +/- 2 hours.

This is a walk designed or adapted by the Rotary Club Overijse-Zoniën (RCOZ) as part of the action "Walking and cycling for more greenery and nature in the Druivenstreek". This promotion runs from 21 March 2021 to 5 June 2021 (World Environment Day). The aim of the action is above all to reflect on the importance of greenery and nature in the Druivenstreek and to raise awareness about it. Specifically, RCOZ wants to use this campaign to raise funds for other sustainable trees in the Druivenstreek. Information about the action and participation in the walks can be http://www.rcoz.be. The march goes from the IJsevallei to the side of the diocese, then descends again to the IJse and climbs again to the other side of the Koningsbos. We start from the center of Overijse along the park and the recently beautifully redeveloped Mariëndal pond along the sports field towards the plateau between the IJse and the Laan. We cross the Chaussée de Wavre (don't pay attention here to the passage of zebras!) and briefly cross a neighborhood, then descend by a path to the Grotstraat. Here we climb again to the Hof te Bisdom and through beautiful forest trails we reach the Dreef where we cross (be careful here too!) and in front of us are the IJse and IJsenbroeken. We continue to the Koningsbergbos where we pass and then return to the center of Overijse by a path.

A shorter route is to walk straight on the Justus Liptius path to the Dreef, then a few meters to the left, then cross the Dreef to the Puttestraat (be careful!). Go up the Puttestraat to the Kouterstraat and continue walking to the left. This route is less than 5 km away.
