Family time - Lock tour

The Finow Canal, the oldest navigable waterway in Germany, is characterized by its locks. Built between 1874 and 1878, some of these locks are still operated manually to this day. The Werbellinsee lake can only be reached by passing through locks. Our family tour passes by 3 locks, from manual operation to modern automatic lock.Length: 25 kmStart/Finish: Schorfheide OT Finowfurt, Lock SchöpfurtIntersection points: 94-95-96-97-39-40-80-70-98-70-94Directions: The tour starts at the manually operated lock Schöpfurt in Finowfurt and continues on the Oder-Havel cycle path towards Marienwerder to the Grafenbrück lock. Along the way, the Oder-Havel cycle path intersects with the Berlin-Usedom cycle path. From Grafenbrück, follow the signs for Oder-Havel Canal, the path leads through the forest and along a section of the Finow Canal to the bridge in Marienwerder. Turn right after the bridge, follow the main road through the village until you reach the Berlin-Usedom cycle path again. Continue to Rosenbeck, to the next lock, which operates fully automatically. The Berlin-Usedom cycle path continues to Eichhorst, before a cycle path accompanying the road branches off back to Finowfurt. The short detour to Eichhorst is definitely worth it, here you can recharge with fish sandwiches and ice cream. And for those who havent had enough of boats passing through locks, the Eichhorst lock is always popular.
