Beskrivelse af forfatteren

On foot on the Geo-Path
Get on the trail of the past: Immerse yourself in millions of years of history on the adventure trail "Kleiner Berg"! Climate developments are impressively explained based on soil profiles and rocks, making the exciting history of Bad Laer tangible for young and old alike.
Fossils, sand dunes in the middle of the forest, and the old quarry "Anneliese" tell tales of past geological eras. This is presented age-appropriately on eight display boards along the 6.4-kilometer-long Geo-Information trail. In German, English, and in child-friendly language, hikers can learn how strongly the shape of the Kleiner Berg, better known as "Blomberg" (Flower Mountain), is still shaped by geological and earth-historical processes. Discover this part of the Nature and Geopark TERRA.vita with new eyes!
Let yourself be transported back to a time 320 to 300 million years ago when a tropical swamp forest with gigantic plants, through which huge dragonflies buzzed, existed at the site of Blomberg. Or leap back millions of years to the time when this former tropical landscape formed the seabed of a primeval ocean.
The geotouristic educational trail is an experience for the whole family. Young visitors are guided through the Kleiner Berg by a cute prehistoric creature and can dive even deeper into its exciting history with the help of a puzzle booklet. This is available free of charge at the Bad Laer Tourist Information.
But where does the collected knowledge come from? "The history of the geological eras can be read in the stones," explains Dr. Jens Steffahn, a geologist at GeoDienste GmbH in Garbsen. The expert reads in the geological relics on the Kleiner Berg like other people read a book. Examining the climatic fluctuations in the earth's history also helps to better understand today's climate developments. Cold and heat, water, ice, but also animals and plants change rocks over millions of years and thus leave their traces.
Especially exciting: On the circular route, three ammonites can be admired, fossilized cephalopods that lived exclusively in the water. These are of great importance to science, as there were thousands of their kind over a period of about 350 million years, based on which geologists are able to make temporal differentiations.
But the "GeoPath" still has many more surprises in store, such as the "rocky path to the erratic block" and a "look into the depths". More will not be revealed at this point. So off you go on a great discovery tour!
