The View Trail

The route is a coastal, beautiful path where you can experience many seabird species up close and see and hear the sea's roar, while the cries of seagulls sound as they elegantly glide by with the help of the wind. Along the route, there are opportunities to take breaks, such as the semicircular bench in two levels at Havudsigten and other locally designed Hirtshals benches that are placed along the path. While staying at the benches, you can unobtrusively follow the activities of local fishing boats close to the coast or see the large ocean-going ships on the horizon. The coastal climate's frequent changes and the colorful sunsets over the sea are best experienced from the Udsigtsstien. The route goes from Hirtshals lighthouse to the North Sea Oceanarium and has a total length of about 3.2 kilometers. Both Hærvejen, Nordsøstien, and Vestkystruten follow its course. The Udsigtsstien is divided into two stages, where the first is 1.3 kilometers long and goes from Solnedgangspladsen further down to Hirtshals Lighthouse and the Bunker Museum. The second stage of the route goes from Solnedgangspladsen to Banegårdspladsen, where the Shipbuilder's Bridge has been established over Skagerakvej. Currently, the route has a temporary stage 3, which runs from Banegårdspladsen to the North Sea Research Park and Oceanarium. It connects the Udsigtsstien with the eastern part of the Ringstien, thus creating the loop around the town of Hirtshals.
