This surprising geographical phenomenon lies between the countryside of Cádiz and Seville. The ideal way to reach it is on foot, by bike or on horseback along the Via Verde that connects the two municipalities that make up it, Olvera and Coripe.
The scenic importance of the rock is enriched by the river Guadalporcún , which crosses the rock and digs at its foot a deep gorge known as El Estrechón . Its course has also created pools, giant basins and small waterfalls in the riverbed. Here you can go down and in the nearby river Guadalmanil you can fish for barbel and carp in some areas.
Its main value is that of an enclave for birdlife, because the largest colony of griffon vultures in Andalusia, and one of the largest in Spain, nests in this barely half a square kilometer. That is why it was declared a Special Protection Area for Birds in 2002. Other birds of prey also live here, such as the Egyptian vulture, the hawk and the eagle owl, many of which are endangered. Less common birds are the rock fly, the crested lark, the black wheatear, the solitary rock thrush and birds of prey such as the jackdaw, the red-billed king and the raven.
