Mons-en-Pévèle is a village and municipality in the French Nord department in the Hauts-de-France region. The last part of the municipality's name refers to the region of Pévèle.
A significant battle took place in this village on August 18, 1304, which decided the fate of the County of Flanders. The Battle of Pevelenberg represented a retaliatory war for King Philip IV of France following the lost Battle of the Golden Spurs in 1302. Due to the victory of the French king over the Flemish rebels in this battle, it can be seen as the conclusion of the eight-year-long Flemish Revolt. Less than a year later, the Treaty of Athis-sur-Orge was agreed upon, which meant that the Count of Flanders remained a vassal of the French king but also had to cede various lordships as collateral as well as annual compensation to France.
