If you have a bit of fitness, it is advisable to walk straight ahead where a kind of forest path runs. After about 200 meters, you will see a steep staircase on your left that takes you to the ruins of the castle. This is quite a climb on a staircase made of wooden sleepers. If you take your time, it is manageable for everyone without a walker, although it can be quite slippery in wet weather.
At the top, you will find a remnant of the castle. Much of it is still buried in the ground, and there is still active digging and restoration going on. There are signs here and there saying 'interdit', but otherwise you can get a good look at the workshop of the archaeologists and restorers. Nice! Next to the first defensive wall were large chunks of stone where half-finished statues were hewn out.
It is clear that there is still a lot of work to be done at these excavations as you climb further up. Where once stood the keep, the heart of the castle, there is now a forest. It is worth walking a bit further here, because on the other side of the hill there are several beautiful viewpoints over the village and the surroundings.
