Torre di San Nicolò di Bari - Palermo

This is the fourteenth century city tower that is part of the transmission system. Built by the Universitas Palermitana to defend the walls of the "Cassaro", it was not part of the church structures, but was disconnected and isolated.

The Tower of Excellence, perhaps the tallest in Palermo , has lost its defensive significance due to the city's urban expansion. Then it became refined and lost its austere appearance. In fact, stained glass windows were used on the second level using inlay work.

Since 2013, the San Nicolò Tower has been open to the public with guided tours organized by the Terradamare cooperative.
