Wilwerwiltz and the Luxembourg Ardennes
Start: Wilwerwiltz – Alscheider Hill
You start the route in Wilwerwiltz with a warm-up on hilly roads to prepare for the first climb of the day, the Alscheid. The ascent is a great way to get your legs moving, with challenging sections but also easier parts to find your rhythm.
Merkholtz and the Nocher Coast
After the descent through Merkholtz, you follow a demanding climb, the Côte de Nocher. This climb offers beautiful views of the village of Nocher and the surrounding forests and fields. Once at the top, you have time to catch your breath before the route takes you through Dahl and along the Harderbach towards Boukelsermillen.
Dirbach and the ascent to Bourscheid
In the village of Dirbach, the difficult climb to Bourscheid begins, one of the steepest climbs on the route. You'll pass the impressive Bourscheid Castle, a stunning fortress that dominates the landscape. After a short stop to enjoy the view, a fast descent to Michelau follows.
Fleibur and Brandenburg
From Michelau, you ascend the Fleibur Fléiber, a demanding climb that takes you to Brandenburg, where you can admire the magnificent Brandenburg Castle. The ascent to the Brandenburger peak follows, rewarding you once again with panoramic views.
Côte de Hierzenhaff and Beaufort
The ride continues to Bettendorf and the ascent of Hierzenhaff towards Reisdorf. Next, you climb to Beaufort, an elevation that leads you to the spectacular ruins of Beaufort Castle. The view from this historic site is breathtaking and a great place to catch your breath.
Müllerthal and Consdorfer Coast
After Beaufort, you descend through Waldbillig and end up in the picturesque Müllerthal, often referred to as the "Little Switzerland" of Luxembourg. The climb to the Côte de Consdorf is a challenge, but once at the top, you can enjoy the tranquility of the surroundings.
Berbourg, Herborn and the Côte de Pafebierg
You continue to Bech, then climb the Herborner Coast, followed by a short ride through Mompach and a steep ascent to the Pafebierg coast. The alternation of climbs and flats makes this part of the route diverse and challenging.
Echternach and Berdorf
After a refreshing stop at the Echternach Lake, you continue on the road to Echternach, the oldest town in Luxembourg. Then comes the demanding climb at the Côte de Berdorf, once again with beautiful views, followed by a rapid descent, but once at the bottom, it’s back up to Beaufort where you can enjoy a well-deserved break, for example at the Boulangerie-Pâtisserie Marques, to recharge your energy.
Vianden and the Côte de Mont St-Nicolas
After Dillingen and Reisdorf, get ready for the imposing Vianden Castle. Here the famous Côte de Mont St-Nicolas begins, one of the steepest sections of the route. The ascent is challenging, but the view from the top is worth it.
Finish: Wilwerwiltz via Hosingen and Pintsch
After a long descent to Hosingen, you continue via Bockholtz and Pintsch back to Wilwerwiltz, where you finish the ride tired but satisfied. This journey causes a lot of headaches, but the beautiful views and rustic surroundings make it an unforgettable experience.
