The fastest flowing river in the Netherlands provides one of the most beautiful pieces of nature in the Netherlands. The Geul meanders through a green hilly landscape, flanked by willow trees,
flower meadows and nesting birds in overhanging branches. The scene around it is also lovely: friendly hills, orchards full of blossom or fruit and every now and then a black and white half-timbered house pops up in the landscape.
Hiking here is simply unbeatable. You follow grass paths along the Geul, walk through sunken roads with badger burrows and the altimeters are invariably rewarded with a
