Through forests and villages

This 37-kilometer long cycling junction route focuses on the peat extraction areas between Etten-Leur and Schijf.
After Schijf, you will ride through the villages of Sprundel, St. Willebrord, and Hoeven back to Etten-Leur.

In the villages, attention is given to the religious heritage.

The starting point of this route is at the:

The car can be parked near the shopping center.

After the Ice Age, the ice began to melt and formed ponds in the landscape.
Over the years, peat layers grew, which were later used as fuel in the Middle Ages.
Due to the high demand for raised bogs, the peat industry emerged in the Low Countries.
To transport peat from the peat extraction areas to, among others, Bergen op Zoom, Roosendaal, Oudenbosch, and Breda, peat waterways were dug.
These peat waterways and references to these former peat waterways can still be found in the Brabant landscape.
