Walking in the Rondgors

This short walking route goes through the nature reserve Rondgors.

The Rondgors is an open area with rough meadows and ponds. It is owned by Brabants Landschap.

The Rondgors is located northwest of Rijsbergen and north of the Tiggeltsebergstraat in Rijsbergen. It lies between the Ettensebaan and the Ettenseweg. The Rondgors is best accessed via the Parking lot de Bak van de Pannenhoef on the Ettensebaan in Rijsbergen. There is also an unguarded bicycle parking at the parking lot.

The Rondgors is an Ecological Connection Zone (EVZ) that connects Pannenhoef, Vloeiweide, and Schuitvaart with the new estate 's Heeren Vrunten. A 30-hectare new estate that has been developed based on the example of Pannenhoef and Vloeiweide. This relates to the former peat extraction. The Rondgors forms the catchment area of the Bijloop and the Turfvaart locally. It consists of semi-natural grassland that remains unfertilized and is extensively grazed by cattle. These are Hereford cattle from Geleijns grazing management.

In addition, new ponds have been dug in several places, and in other areas, the (formerly fertilized) topsoil has been stripped. The resulting soil has been used to restore a former slope in the terrain, which connects again to the stream valley landscape of Pannenhoef and Vloeiweide.
