The St. John's Church is a subsidiary church of the parish of St. Remigius in Borken and is therefore popularly known as the "Little Church". It is located in the city centre on Johanniterstraße, at the corner of Kapuzinerstraße.
The church was part of a monastery complex that no longer exists. It goes back to a Ludgerus chapel originally built around the year 1200, which was endowed with income in 1202 by the knight Werenzo von Lohn and consecrated by Prince-Bishop Hermann II of Katzenelnbogen. At the same time, it was elevated to the status of a subsidiary church of the Borken parish church of St. Remigius. In 1263, Bernhard Werenzo and his brother Gerhard von Lohn transferred the church to the Order of St. John. The Knights of St. John retained the right of ownership until 1658, when they handed over the church to the Capuchins, who had been living in Borken since 1629.
