La Casa Roman - La Laguna

The building " La Casa Román" on Calle San Agustín de La Laguna houses the facilities of the associated center of the UNED of Tenerife "Federico Díaz Rodríguez".

In the first half of the 18th century, Lieutenant Colonel Gabriel Román Manrique de Lara built a new building.

The National University for Distance Education (UNED) was founded in Tenerife in 1994 given the need on the island, but also in El Hierro and La Gomera, to establish a UNED Associated Center that would facilitate higher studies for all citizens of this islands who want to study through the UNED, there is also an obstacle for students who are already registered at the said university to avoid having to travel, for example, to Gran Canaria or La Palma to carry out their academic activities and personal tests.

Federico Díaz Rodríguez was professor of chemical engineering, professor of wisdom and experience at the University of La Laguna. He was an example of management without manipulation; As he always did, he didn't ask for more than was necessary, nor did he expect more than what was offered. He kept his work quiet and poured into it a controlled enthusiasm in which very few people participated. He was not a fan of wasting sentences and it was enough for him to be happy to know that he was working in the field of one of the most valuable social goods: knowledge and culture.
