Bridge over the Senne

Continue towards Mechelen. To bypass the busy lane with traffic jams: turn right just before the next roundabout towards Leest. At the end of that road turn left, again towards Mechelen.

We are now approaching the bridge over the Senne. Those who have their picnic or snack with you can find a shady spot just before the bridge on the left to relax.

The Senne was once navigable, between Brussels and the Sennegat, where the Senne flows into the Dyle. But those days are long gone. For many years, the Senne was known for its malodorous smell, as the Brussels waste water ended up in the Senne.

Continue again towards Mechelen.

Here the Sint-Romboutstoren appears and the fireplace of Brewery Het Anker where Carolus is still brewed.
