Strainchamps: Walk of the Cheslot

We did this walk on 04-05-2023

Nice walk that is well signposted on one side. The first three kilometers we were a bit disappointed. The route passes on a wide, though uncrowded road with ribbon buildings from Strainchamps to Hotte. We had nice views to compensate for that a bit. Until we entered a narrow road on the outskirts of Hotte. And hoppa, no more disappointment. Therefore, more than the forest and the meadow. And almost forgotten, the old tram line (now RaVel) in the Sûre Valley. Most beautiful views and beautiful nature.

I still enjoyed this route.

"We start from the church of Strainchamps with its polychrome baroque altars and go down the slope to the Sûre and then go up to Hotte with its richness of landscapes. If you leave the hiking trail for a while and take the direction of Menufontaine, you will be able to observe many meanders of the Sûre. But let's follow our route through the forest and on the slope stops in the direction of Bodange. The village is crossed by the old district tramway (now RaVel) and is famous for the persistent resistance offered by the Ardennes hunters on May 10, 1940.
